Asbestos Training
General Asbestos Awareness
ACS offer a range of bespoke Asbestos
training courses which can be designed to suit the particular
requirements of the client. However, our general asbestos
awareness course is suitable for all types of organisations
who may encounter asbestos within their range of work.
This half day session provides an excellent introduction
to the topic and offers not only legislative guidance
but practical advice on prevention of exposure and safe
methods of work.
Typically the course outline is as follows:
- Introduction to Asbestos: origins, properties and
types
- Real vs Perceived Risk
- Asbestos related diseases
- Asbestos legislation
- Overview of safe working methods
Although the general awareness session provides a comprehensive
introduction to the topic, often organisations require
additional training sessions and guidance on topics which
are specific to their own business. Therefore, ACS also
offer the following courses:
Asbestos
Surveying & Sampling
This 2 hour session follows directly
on from the basic asbestos awareness course and is designed
for personnel who are required to undertake, or supervise,
the taking of samples for the possible detection of asbestos.
The course covers typical locations of where asbestos
is commonly found, examines methods for vetting materials
and involves a practical demonstration on sampling techniques.
Introduction to
Asbestos Removal (1 day)
This course is primarily designed for
individuals who have no, or very little, experience in
asbestos removal operations and who are involved in the
supervision of work on asbestos containing materials.
The first part of this course follows the same content
as the general asbestos awareness session. The second
part of the session provides a legislative overview and
focuses on safe systems of work and final inspection procedures.
Safe Handling of
Asbestos Materials/Minor Works (1 day)
This one day course is designed for
organisations who intend to carry out minor asbestos works
i.e. jobs that can be completed without an asbestos licence.
The first part of the course comprises our standard general
asbestos awareness session, which is followed by legislative
guidance specifically for this type of work. The second
part of the session is of a much more practical nature.
This involves delegates being instructed on tasks that
can be completed without an asbestos license, the equipment
that is required and safe working procedures.
